beautiful surroundings
a British Colombia style hotel in a quite corner riverside, beautiful surroundings, my wife likes our walking around the hotel at night…have not done this for a long time…we definitely will come back…

nice hotel with good location
There are several restaurants in the neighbourhood. If you want to go to the centre you can take a taxi or you can walk: it's not that far :-)! You can also thake a walk to the river in the evening with the boulevard, bridges and all the lights.

great hotel in Shamian Island
Great Hotel in an unique historical Shamian district w many beautiful old buildings and garden walkways and river side just a stone throw away. Hotel old building was simply beautiful and very well maintained. I booked an Executive Room for just one night. It was huge w even a sofa set which was nice. Bed was very comfortable and room very clean. Breakfast was a good spread.

in a very local area, nice for leisure stay
A quiet location very far from the financial district of Guangzhou, the stadium or places with a night life. But a very local area. The island is quiet which is a blessing in a very noisy City. The hotel is ok value for money. Staff were mostly speaking some English but not all. If you like shopping malls this was not the place to stay, even though there are bars and the best sea food Restaurent of the city is practically walking distance... I absolutely liked my stay in Guangzhou and enjoyed the quiet of the island after the city. Just ask for rooms that are not at the school side and visit the pool on the roof. It was quiet nice.

near some small local markets
An average hotel. The room was fine but nothing special. I'd never been to Guangzhou before and think I underestimated how small the Shamian district is and the fact that once you've walked around the block admiring the architecture (it is a beautiful place) there's not all that much else to do without schlepping across main roads packed with traffic jams in the boiling heat. Crossing the small bridge opposite the hotel and then walking across the large bridge across the main roads brings you out to some small local markets selling dried goods for Chinese medicine which was pretty interesting.

located in the middle of historic district in sham
We selected the Guangdong Victory Hotel mainly because of its location in the Shamian colonial district of Guangzhou. We were not disappointed as the hotel is right in the middle of the historic district. You can stroll around the entire island and take in the restored colonial buildings in under an hour.

interesting nearby places
If u walk out to the main road and cross the overhead bridge walk into the side road w lots of shops selling Chinese dried goods and herbs. Keep walking for 10mins u will reach Holiday inn and their famous shopping district.

good hotel, but make sure which building you booke
This hotel is two buildings, east and west, located in two different streets with different check in desks, so make sure you take this into consideration when you show up. Bearing that in mind, they are within a few minutes walk of each other on Shamian Island.

quiet, peaceful area in Guangzhou
hotel in Shamian island which is actually very small. average size rooms, but very clean, small but adequate bathrooms. 2 different wings- east and west. east has bigger lobby and swimming pool. 10 minutes to subway station and shang xia xiu walking street. walking distance to pearl river site-seeing ferries. leafy suburb, lots of people come to have wedding photos taken here. decent breakfast. decent value for money executive room has balcony
